Location

Castroreale has recently won the award to be one of the most beautiful village in Italy (August 2014). It is situated on the North coast between Tindari and Milazzo (the main port of departure for those heading to the Aeolian Islands). The name Castroreale comes from Latin which means "royal fortress “ and is known for plenty of churches and is architecturally very interesting, with some houses dating to the 13th century.

The house is well situated. It is only 5 minutes walk from the closest grocery store and 10 minutes from the centre of the village where you will find restaurants, bars and a pub. Ideally located for both airports, Catania (Easy Jet) and Palermo (Ryanair), the journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes from the first one and 2 hour and 20 minutes from the second one by car, along panoramic coastal roads.

It is 133 Km (82 mi) from Cefalù (1 hour 30 min by car ) and 100 km(62 mi) from Taormina (1 hour and 15 min by car). These are two of the most beautiful towns in Sicily. It takes just 21.5 Km (13 mi) from the house to go to Milazzo’s town centre and the main port (40 min by car) and instead 158km (98mi) to go to Mount Etna (2 hours and 30 min by car).

Sicily is the largest of the Italian islands. It is one of the pearls of Southern Italy: a place where nature seems to have given all of its wonders. Dramatic scenery, rugged mountains, rolling hills, fierce volcanoes, crystal clear waters and soft sandy beaches, Sicily has it all.
